OPERATING PROCEDURESWARNINGIf equipment fails to operate, refer to thetroubleshooting procedures in Chapter3.2-1.Controls and Instrumentsa.This paragraph describes, illustrates,locates and furnishes the operator/crew sufficientinformation to insure proper operation of the pneumaticdrifter drill.b.The purpose of the controls andinstruments and their normal maximum reading orposition is illustrated in figure 2-1.2-2.Operation Under Usual Conditionsa.The instructions in paragraph 2-2 throughparagraph 2-5 are for the information and guidance ofpersonnel responsible for the operation of the pneumaticrock drill.b.The operator must know how to performevery operation of which the pneumatic rock drill iscapable. Paragraphs 2-3 through 2-5 containinstructions on starting, stopping, and operation of therock drill and coordinating the basic motions to performthe specific tasks for which the equipment is designed.Since nearly every job presents a different problem, theoperator may have to vary given procedures to fit theindividual job.c.Refer to paragraphs 4-1 and 4-2 forinstallation and setting up instructions for the rock drill.2-3.Startinga.Preparation for Starting.(1) Perform the before operation preventivemaintenance services (para 3-4).(2) Connect the main air supply hose and attachthe safety wire as illustrated in figure 2-2.2-1
